Texas Bar Journal Guest Article: 2011 Year in Review - Texas Supreme Court
At the Texas Supreme Court, 2011 will be remembered as the year the Court conquered its backlog. The backlog peaked in 2007, when 60 submitted but undecided causes remained on the Court’s docket at the end of the term. At the end of the 2011 term, only four submitted causes remained to be carried over into the 2012 term.1 The Court now operates much like the U.S. Supreme Court, which decides every case during the same term in which it is argued.
